NEW: The SB Independent endorses Anna Everett & Candidate Discussion (Oct 1, 2020)

Why I am Running
Santa Barbara City College provides a high quality, affordable higher education, and life-long learning opportunities to our community.
As an Emeritus Professor (retired) from UCSB since July 2020, I am excited about devoting my decades of experience and training to improving our community, my home, and particularly to serving as a Trustee of SBCC. I am running for the open Trustee position because I am the embodiment of Community College’s public education mission, and I am committed to ensuring its continued success.
I am a proud first-generation college student whose higher education journey began in a community college. My BA and MA degrees are from California’s public universities. After securing my PhD at USC, I returned to my public school roots, and became an award-winning professor of media at UCSB for 22 years.
